How do TRED's work?

TRED recovery boards are a critical part of any off-road recovery kit. When used correctly, TRED recovery boards help you and your vehicle escape even the stickiest situations thanks to their intelligent design with extreme traction and strength on both sides.

Who needs TRED’s?

Anyone that ventures off bitumen in a vehicle for a seriously adventurous time will benefit by carrying a pair of TRED's. They’re an insurance policy for those unplanned losses of traction that can cost time, money, or your vehicle. TRED's are not limited to any type of off-road user; we have serious 4x4 enthusiasts who don’t head out to the trails without them, and weekend warriors embracing the confidence of being able to explore without a backup vehicle.

Where would I use TRED’s?

Use TRED's in any scenario where the loss of traction stops forward momentum. The two things to remember are:
1) avoid wheel spin
2) don’t use on hard or rocky ground.

When should I use TRED's?

Use them early; don’t keep spinning your tires. Slip a pair of TRED's under your tires as soon as you notice traction loss and you’ll be out in no time.

Are TRED’s easy to use?

We’d go as far as to say TREDs are seriously easy! With a shovel feature and extreme grip, we’ve thought of everything to get you moving again in no time. Bear in mind, this depends on the seriousness of the situation you find yourself in, but by catching traction loss early, you can be out in less than a minute.

Why should I be a TRED owner?

If your trips fall under the seriously adventurous banner, you need TRED's. An investment you’ll be happy to have made, they will save you time and money and allow you to recover your vehicle safely even with no-one else around. Regardless of whether you own a cheap bush basher or a luxury 4x4, the peace of mind you get from owning a pair of TRED's onboard is priceless.

What makes TRED’s unique?

Our intelligent design from first-hand experience and material selection has created a highly durable product that gets the job done. From the shovel feature to the directional pattern, TRED’s are made by explorers for explorers.

TRED Recovery Boards

Which TRED Recovery Board model is best for my needs?

The ability of TRED's to get you out of a sticky situation comes down to the provision of superior traction when the ground under your tyres is simply too unstable to traverse. There’s more than enough traction on top to get your vehicle up and going and enough traction underneath so that TRED’s don’t just pass straight under your tyre.

Why are there different sizes of TRED?

A pair of large TRED's may be a tight squeeze in a smaller SUV or fully loaded vehicle and we wanted everyone to be able to experience TRED regardless of storage capacity or vehicle size. We’ve begun seeing serious off-road enthusiasts carrying both a pair of large TRED's and a pair of small TRED's to ensure recovery in any size scenario.

Are TRED’s stackable?

Yes. TRED's have been conveniently designed to stack for storage and transport. Although sold in pairs, any number of TRED’s can stack neatly on top of each other reducing paired height due to ‘product nesting’ (must be the same model).

They look like plastic, won’t they break?

Due to the special high-strength polymer material blend they can handle high levels of flex, are highly durable and wear resistant. The mix of elasticity and tough rigid design means that TRED's maintain a high level of pressure on your tire to provide ultimate traction whilst still being able to take the flex of being under vehicle weight on unstable ground. You may notice minor white stress marks when exposed to high levels of flex but this is what the material is designed to do – flex and bounce back time and time again.

For ultimate durability, you can’t go past TRED Pro’s unique and patented dual composite construction, EXOTRED™. Due to the special polyolefin material blend, TRED Pro's can handle high levels of flex, are highly durable and wear resistant. The mix of elasticity and tough rigid design in the main body means that your TRED Pro’s maintain a high level of pressure on your tire to provide ultimate traction whilst still being able to take the flex of being under vehicle weight on unstable ground.

Are there other uses for TRED’s?

Yes. We’re sure you’ll find alternate uses when you are exploring and camping (the shovel end is a very handy feature). Just remember not to use it on hard or rocky ground, as a vehicle loading ramp or as a bridging device.

Will the sun damage my TRED's if I have them permanently mounted externally on my vehicle?

The material we make TRED's from includes a UV-stabilizer package that protects them from damage by the sun's UV rays. However, if they are permanently stored in the sun the color will eventually start to fade after a few years or so and, like anything left exposed to the sun for long periods, they will eventually start to degrade and lose their ductility. Store your TRED’s out of the sun when not in use to ensure longevity.

What is the Tyre Modelling?

TRED's features advanced technologies such as 3D scanning and CAD modelling, we inspected hundreds of the biggest brand tyres around the world to optimize the grip design. By creating a database of the world's biggest selling off-road tyres we were able to use real data, dimensions and tread patterns to optimize our design more so than any other recovery device of this type in history.

What is the TRED link?

Nest your TRED GT or TRED HD recovery boards, from entry ramp to shovel end to give a potentially limitless recovery surface without the need for additional joiners.

What is the Concave, Convex Profiles?

The concave entry design was developed to hug the tyre when placed in position before commencing recovery. A tyre is round, in an instance when you need to use a recovery board the tyre is in a hole, so the entry of the recovery board needs to be optimized to have maximum surface touching the tyre to ensure an easier recovery and less chance of wheel spin occurring when trying to drive out.

The convex board design runs out along the terrain rolling out of the hole your tyres and vehicle are in. Then having the open dedicated exit gives the board better grip onto the terrain without the need for protruding grip lugs on the base and without these grips our overall board stacking height is a lot less. The board sinks into the terrain and the board design acts as the grip.

What is the Dedicated Entry and Exit Points

With a directional recovery board we're able to design the nodule's profile to better grip the tire's profile and allows the board to confirm and grip to the terrain with the open exit point.

What is the SIPE-LOCK?

The TRED HD features on the entry ramp specifically engineered to engage with the one common denominator in most tires, the water evacuation channels on the outer edges. The unique Sipe-Lock makes gripping the tyre easier and help aid the initial traction.
